Cal Poly Humboldt

I spent a year student teaching in a middle school art classroom and helping out in special education classrooms. I am a huge proponent for the arts and for education in general. I tend to take an eclectic psycho-education approach to counseling, including mindfulness and art therapy methods.

My counseling degree was obtained through Saybrook University, a hybrid online graduate school specializing in psychological research, social justice reform, alternative therapies, and humanistic, person-centered counseling. I completed my practicum and internship in Coeur d'Alene, ID, first at an at-risk youth/young adult transition program and then at North Idaho College in Career Services as a career counselling intern.

I grew up in Humboldt County, CA, and received my bachelor's in Psychology from Humboldt State (now Cal Poly Humboldt). I also minored in art to balance my work load with fun classes to fulfill my creative itch. Something I have learned about myself is that I visualize most things in my head and sometimes communicating with words doesn't come naturally to me. I believe this is a large part of why I love art so much.
